HOW TO: THE GUIDE

• You may not begin posting until you have had your character approved by Peeves.
• You should only post in character - any out of character discussion should take place in the OOC forum.
• Detail is always welcome. Avoid bloviating (extremely long posts are tedious and difficult to read), but please refrain from one sentence replies. Find a happy balance.
• There is no double posting. If you need to change something before anyone has replied, you must edit your post.
• There is absolutely no Godmodding. Godmodding occurs when you make decisions about someone else's character in your post, whether they be actions or emotions.. Godmodding also occurs when you change the plot in a character's story without their permission. Here is an example:

  Fenrir grabbed a hold of Hermione and glared at her, teeth clenched and lips pulled back. Hermione looked at him with fear, but he felt no remorse: he bit into her with anger, and she screamed in reply

  In this example, the Fenrir player writes out Hermione's reaction (as both action *and* emotion) to him without her permission. It should be the Hermione player who reacts to him biting her. Futhermore, the Fenrir player MUST have planned the bite with Hermione's player, as it affects her role in the game.

• All posting is in third person past tense, just like the Harry Potter books.
• Please put quotes around speech: "How are you?" Hermione asked.
• If including thoughts, please put them in italics: I'm starving, she realized.
• Usually, there is a new paragraph when dialogue begins. Please avoid long paragraphs with dialogue in the middle--it makes it extremely difficult to read.
  
  Here is an example of a proper post:
  

  With little effort, Hank added the finishing touches to his new song. Brilliant, he thought. Much better than I thought it'd turn out. Hank had been very worried that he wouldn't get his song ready by Wednesday and his brother, John, would punish him. He chuckled to himself when he considered what possible punishments his brother could imagine. As long as peeps or blenderized Happy Meals weren't involved, he was sure he'd be able to complete any of the punishments as successfully as he had with the Strawberry Hill challenge.
  
  With a grin, he turned to face his wife.
  
  "Katerine," he said, "are you ready to practice?"

• EVERYTHING IS PG-13. - The rating of this RPG should be like that of the Harry Potter books. Cursing is allowed, but keep the "major bombs" out of it (note that JKR used words like 'effing'). Sexual activity is restricted to kissing in character.. Background chatter may discuss anything further, but in game should be PG-13. ANY VIOLATION CAN RESULT IN SUSPENSION.
