Level 8 - The Atrium Ministry Greeter |
The Platforms It's important that when electing a new Minister, voters understand what the candidates stand for, and what they hope to change in the government. Here are key points in each of the platforms that voters should know. Concentration on Law Enforcement To ensure that the Second War was the Wizarding World's last war, Pius Thicknesse intends to bring larger numbers and more training to the Law Enforcement Division of the Ministry. Because of his experience as Head of Law Enforcement, Thicknesse is extremely familiar with the strengths and downfalls of the department, and he wants to see it grow into a stronger, more effective branch of the Ministry. After all, Thicknesse believes the Ministry's main function is to protect your family. Heighten Defense Against the Dark Arts Training To counteract the move by the Ministry in 1995, Pius Thicknesse wants to raise the amount of Defense that children in magical schools learn, particularly Hogwarts. He feels the DADA class should be extremely hands-on, and that Dueling Clubs should be advised every year by a trained, successful dueler. Children must learn to defend themselves young so that they can better defend themselves as adults. Strengthening Muggle Relations Pius Thicknesse believes the Ministry and Wizengamot needs to reconsider the International Statue of Wizarding Secrecy Act of 1692. He believes that working with Muggles, rather than avoiding them, could help both parties in the fields of science and religion. While Thicknesse does not necessarily believe that magic should be shared with the Muggles, he does believe that to go so far as to Oblivate Muggles to observe magic is harmful. He hopes to reach an International agreement to start moving forward with the Muggle Community, rather than hiding from it. Strengthening Relations with International Wizards As Minister, Pius Thicknesse would pull together different nations of Wizards and work closer with other governments to create more unity and understanding. He believes in reinstating the Triwizard Tournament (with more safety precautions, as demonstrated by his strengthened Law Enforcement!), and holding more meetings of the International Confederation of Wizards. Concentration on Equality Between Wizards and Other Magical Creatures As a werewolf himself, Lowell Bristow has worked with the Ministry closely, almost to the point of defiance, to get a separate division for werewolves (before, werewolf matters were scattered between Beings and Beasts). Now, he hopes to take it all a step further, and not only continue the equality for werewolves, but for beings such as Centaurs, Goblins, House-Elves, and others. Bristow believes that a world cannot function if equality for all is not met. Increasing Gap Between Wizards and Muggles Lowell Bristow greatly supports the International Statue of Wizarding Secrecy Act of 1692, and wants to keep to its code. He believes that students of Wizarding schools must be educated about the Muggle world; however, part of the education must include the issues that arise when Muggles and Wizards collide. He feels that stronger emphasis must be made on history such as the Salem Witch Trials. He strongly believes that it is impossible for the Muggle world to completely accept magic, as it is something there cannot understand, and therefore, will fear. Open Education to Other Magical Creatures According to Ministry records, fewer than a dozen out of over three hundred werewolf children have been educated at Hogwarts since 1700, when the Ministry was founded. Bristow cannot know for sure if this was because of choices made by parents or Headmasters, but he intends to help teachers, Headmasters, and school Healers understand werewolves and provide a safe haven for them, where they can be educated: after all, it is education that could keep them from going feral like Fenrir Greyback. Furthermore, Lowell Bristow believes anyone who wants education, deserves education. He plans to open up Hogwarts to goblins, elves, or any other creature who wishes to student. Following suit, Professors of elf, goblin, or any other sort of blood may be hired if they have are as suitable for the job as any Wizard. |
