Griselda Marchbanks
Wizengamot Court
Education Standards Committee

Full Name: Griselda Marchbanks
Nickname(s): Elda
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Date of Birth, Age: March 29, 1965, age 46

Played By: Hermione Granger
Actor Image: Natasha Richardson

Griselda Marchbanks is a Ravenclaw, through and through, although her mentor, Albus Dumbledore, once admitted he felt she could have made the best sort of Slytherin. While she loves her books and enjoys the pursuit for high education standards, she has striven to reach make connections with the highest people in both the Ministry and Hogwarts. It should be noted that none of this is for her benefit, however: she does it to help Hogwarts students.

That's not to say that Griselda doesn't have downfalls. When put on the spot, Griselda can become extremely defensive, and even lose her temper. She has little patience for those who do not put the freedom of Hogwarts into their plans: Griselda had a number of fights with both Dolores Umbridge and Cornelius Fudge during 1995, as the Ministry's actions in Hogwarts went against everything for which she'd worked.

In her personal life, Griselda is boring. She married, but never had children. She and her husband met so late in life that it seemed silly to try to balance a baby on one knee and the Ministry on the other. Her husband is very supportive of Griselda's dedication to education.

To be honest, Griselda had no intention to work for the Ministry. Her dream was to be Headmistress, and she felt the best way to achieve that dream was to stay far away from the Ministry--after all, that's how Dumbledore succeeded. He was the best , and to her advantage, he thought she was a gifted student as well. Griselda's success in Ravenclaw earned her an immediate job with the Ministry, and it was Dumbledore himself who encouraged Griselda to take it.

It took a few years, but eventually, Griselda's commitment to connect Hogwarts and the Ministry helped her gain the position as Exam Coordinator for the O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s. Griselda's ability to work with Hogwarts and the Ministry without compromising Hogwarts's freedom made Griselda extremely popular with both Professors and Albus Dumbledore. After years of raising the educational standards, Griselda was awarded a spot on the Wizengamot Court.

To this day, Griselda remains dedicated to working with the Ministry and Hogwarts in making sure students are provided the following: Excellent, well-trained teachers who can speak not only from a book, but from experience; Qualified, dedicated Headmasters; High, but reachable expectations; Never experience another Umbridge run in ever again.

Default Parker Ransom

Parker Ransom
Lowell Bristow Campaign
Speech Writer + Advisor

Full Name: Parker Ransom
Nickname(s): Park
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Date of Birth, Age: June 3, 1986, age 22

Played By: sidecar
Actor Image: Zooey Deschanel

If you ask If you ask Parker, anyone who doesn't like her is really missing out. Lowell really was lucky to snag her as a Political Assistant. He wasn't just getting a sharp mind, but a brilliantly witty friend. Not only can this Ravenclaw spin a tale to nearly anyone's advantage, but her open heart and open mind allow for her to think outside the box and help push forward ideas that may be unconventional (like, for instance, putting a werewolf as Minister). Hardly anything gets Parker down; she loves her job, she loves her friends, and she absolutely loves Lowell (but don't tell anyone).

Furthermore, the more Parker has on her plate, the better. Well, so she says. Lowell asks her to jump once, and not only does she ask how high, but throws in a few extra dozen jumps just to prove her loyalty. A desperate part of her that just wants to be liked, and it allows people to take advantage of Parker sometimes.

Despite all these amazing qualities of Parker, she has her issues. When the pressure gets tough, Parker tends to back down. Stress is her largest weakness, and in this career path, that doesn't exactly bode well for her. If pushed or prodded the wrong way, she can have quite the mood swing and even say or do things she doesn't mean. Even worse, she's easily influenced. It's a trait she's been able to hide from Lowell and the other campaigners well, but sometimes, she's afraid Pius might have a point....

Once you get to know Parker, you'll find it's easy to tell what she's thinking. If she's nervous or feeling shy, she'll bite her lip, usually while she smiles nervously. She can't ever hide a blush, so her embarrassment is easily recognized. Though she hardly ever talks about it, she worries about her little brother, Harry (named, as many boys of late have been, after Harry Potter). He's a loner in Hufflepuff and she often feels nervous that he may not be as happy as he deserves to be.

Parker Ransom grew up in London. Merlin's pants, she loves London! The hustle, the crowds, the insane pressure on everyone all the time. Her parents, though both of magic blood, sent her to a Muggle boarding school when she was six. She didn't exactly do well, though. Her mind was too flighty and easily distracted to focus on her Muggle work. Maybe that's because instead of doing work, she would levitate things and spin things. People liked her because she could do these things. She got used to people liking her.

Her first year at Hogwarts was the year Severus Snape and the Death Eaters took over Hogwarts. Feeling proud during her first week of her Half-blood heritage and exposure to a Muggle school, she argued with Professor Alecto Carrow about the advantages of Muggles--and thus, became one of the first students tortured at Hogwarts. Ever since, Parker has withdrawn quite a bit and isn't as outgoing as she used to be. Unable to find the bravery to stand up to people like she used to, but still having the same passionate opinions, Parker decided to give the words to the stronger folks. She became a speech writer.

Parker excelled at History of Magic, which no one could really understand since it was so dull. But Parker latched onto every word Binns whined--it was fascinating! So much more interesting that Muggle history! The politics between creatures, the wars between wizards! How couldn't people find it intoxicating?

It killed Parker that she was too young to participate in the Battle at Hogwarts. She wasn't there to see Harry cast the final blow. That's what got her into politics. She never wanted the spotlight necessarily (not after the way she was treated by the Carrows), but she wanted to be a part of those history books. To be able to say to her children, "I was there. I know what really happened."

Rita Skeeter
Daily Prophet Reporter
Biographical Author

Full Name: Rita Skeeter
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Date of Birth, Age: Nov 11, 1952, age 57

Played By: Ron Weasley
Actor Image: Miranda Richardson

Rita lives for getting a good story - no matter what she has to do to get it. Some people may describe her as nasty, but really Rita is just the epitome of a good, ambitious journalist. She never leaves the house without her trusty Quick Quotes Quill and despises those who get in the way of a story. She doesn't particularly care what people think about her, she knows that she's the best reporter there is; they just need to respect her. She doesn't consider her unregistered Animagus form, a conveniently ordinary beetle, illegal - rather, it's just resourceful. She's always had a problem with authority and doesn't feel she needs to answer to anyone, especially regarding her story-seeking methods. Some describe her as malicious, she believes she's just telling the truth.

Rita knew she wanted to be a journalist as long as she could remember; she would always grab the Daily Prophet from her parents and scour the articles. Her parents were both very important and influential in the wizarding world and rarely had time for Rita. That never really bothered her though - at least she would never admit it did. Acquaintances of Rita's from her childhood suggest that Rita strives to be the best and most recognized reporter to gain the approval and attention of her parents, but Rita refuses to listen to their theories about her character. Rita strived to be the best because she wanted to be recognized as the best by the entire wizarding world - who wouldn't want that?

As soon as she got to Hogwarts, the cunning Slytherin quickly tried to work her way in to her professor's heart to learn as much as she could about the school - she had learned early from her influential parents how to work people. Everyone soon discovered that if there was anything to know, Rita knew it. Because of this, no one ever really allowed herself to get close to Rita, but Rita didn't mind - she was still able to get her stories.

Rita went to work for the Daily Prophet as soon as she got out of school. She began working with smaller articles focusing on things like great beauty tips for Stay At Home Witches, but Rita's ambitions soon pushed her to the top and she is now the top journalist for the paper. Rita's biggest stories have been a story on the captured Death Eaters after First Wizarding World, a close account of the Triwizard Tournament, and Harry Potter's account of Voldemort's return. She has also written (in)famous biographies on Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and Harry Potter

Pius Thicknesse
Retired Magical Law Enforcement
Running for Minister

platform

Full Name: Pius Thicknesse
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Date of Birth, Age: October 27, 1950, age 59

Played By: Pius Thicknesse
Actor Image: Sean Bean

Pius Thicknesse! Don't let that name fool you; Pius is far from thick. He's a strong-headed, loyal man whose Gryffindor bravery lead him to the Auror department years ago. He's a natural leader and extremely loyal to his friends and family. Pius has a great sense of right and wrong and works non-stop to make sure the rules are followed by the Wizarding World. However, he's also known to be ruthless--he's always been the "bad cop," to put it in Muggle terms, but that's just because he tries to ensure that individuals who violate the law are punished.

Underneath the gruff exterior is a good man and an excellent wizard, as he has proven time and time again, even after the issues he faced during the Second War. Yes, it's true that the Death Eater Yaxley placed an Imperius Curse on Pius, who took over as Minister of Magic under the direction of You-Know-Who, but it must be clarified that it took Yaxley a good few attempts to get Pius under his control. Pius never had an incident before or after that unfortunate event, and he was quickly cleared of any wrongdoing by Minister Shacklebolt as soon as he was released of the Imperius Curse. The only problem with being under a curse is Pius became harsher on himself but there was a silver-lining, he now wants to educate the younger generation to defend themselves better. He also wants to see relations between Muggles and Wizards become stronger. Many view this as his attempt to repair the damages done during the Second War, but the truth is Pius has always been a supporter of Muggles, one of the many reasons the Dark Lord was keen on having him under their control. He always felt that if relations between Muggles and Wizards was better the Second War would have never escalated into something so devastating. He also believes if the Wizards in the United Kingdom had been more open to help from those outside it's borders refuge could have been given to those that were being targeted. All of that is what Pius wants to change about his world, he wants his children to grow up knowing they are protected because there is a Ministry that has placed more importance on those aspects rather than on Games. The fact remains though that Pius is far from being perfect and has his flaws. He is ruthless in his dealings with those that practice the dark arts and those that seek to harm innocents; he is a man that dislikes the rubbish that is called the "free press" and views The Daily Prophet as nothing more than a chance for people to mud-sling; and he doesn't believe in honoring the wizarding traditions that exclude anyone based on blood purity.

When Pius was young all he wanted to do was grow up to be an Auror and protect people. At Hogwarts he was known for fighting fights on behalf of others. If a Slytherin was picking on a small Hufflepuff you can bet Pius would be punching that Slytherin's lights out. The same could be said if a bunch of Gryffindors had a Slytherin cornered, Pius would jump in and help the Slytherin. No one understood why he would do this, especially those in his own house that had faced his wrath. The fact was Pius didn't like it when people were victimized he had seen a neighbor abused by her husband and always felt that was wrong. It came as no surprise that when Pius graduated from Hogwarts he reached his goal of being a Auror and eventually was Head of Magical Law Enforcement. His experience and abilities enabled him to train Harry Potter and Ron Weasley when they entered the Auror career. As he taught and watched the two men grow into the field he loved so much, Pius realized he was no longer the young man he'd once been and retired. Before he stepped down he ensured that Harry Potter was his successor.

With time on his hands Pius realizes that the Wizarding world needs someone that can lead them into the future. His chance to redeem himself is now afoot and Pius feels if he can win over the hearts of his people he can truly be a man at peace and lay the demons of his past aside. Ever dedicated to the betterment of the Wizarding World, Pius Thicknesse submitted his name to be one of the candidates in the Ministry's first election to be the Minister of Magic. While Pius greatly respects Lowell Bristow and all he's been through and done, Pius believes his experience, expertise, and proven dedication to the Ministry gives him better opportunities to embrace the future; but he isn't blind in knowing the public still doesn't trust the Ministry and that it'll be a hard battle ahead of him.

Lowell Bristow
Werewolf Rights Lobbyist
Running for Minister
platform

Full Name: Lowell Bristow
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Date of Birth, Age: February 17, 1981, age 28

Played By: talkingbird
Actor Image: Joseph Gordon-Levitt

You might say Lowell Bristow was born into politics, with a father who served on the London Assembly for a good part of Lowell's childhood. It's his mother who is the magical one in the family, a pureblood nee Yorick, making Lowell almost a perfectly even half magical and half muggle. Magic was never a secret within the family, and on his weekends home from boarding school in Ascot, where he attended since age six, Lowell was always enthralled by the parlour tricks and show-charms that his mother and her wand would entertain him with. Never quite sure whether or not their son would be magical or not, Lowell grew up with an awe of magic that never entirely left him, even after he showed his first signs of magic and received his Hogwarts letter.

At Hogwarts, Lowell made quite the addition to Gryffindor with his stubborn conviction to his beliefs, often translated into bravery when others disagreed. He was charming and charismatic amongst his peers, made prefect although never Head Boy, and graduated quietly three years after the Second War's battle at Hogwarts. With England going through reparations after the war, Lowell looked around at the country he lived in and...wanted more than just being one of the characters in the rebuilding drama going on. He felt strangely restless, not eager to settle down at all, and so after a year spent listlessly job hunting and finding nothing to capture his interest, Lowell made up his mind to take some time to see the continent, backpacking across Europe and through Russia.

The first fifteen months of the trip, Lowell regards to this day as perhaps some of the best times of his life. He learned French in France, picked up a decent amount of Castillian in Spain, learned to appreciate snow in Switzerland, how to swim in the Dead Sea, and other lessons too numerous to name. He felt as though this was an education far more deep running than just the spells and bookwork he'd received at Hogwarts -- this was a real world education. When Lowell stopped for a week in Warsaw, he was already filled with so many ideas and plans to take back to England, ways to help aid the recovery of his nation. He briefly considered going home then, rather than continuing his journey to Kiev, but after a few days consideration, he decided to forge ahead, still curious about the world.

Halfway there, dark in the middle of the night, Lowell was attacked by one of the bands of Fenrir Greyback's werewolves who had fled England after the war ended. Lowell was not only bitten -- he was mauled. Even with his quick wandwork, there were too many for him to stand a chance. Lowell never made it to Kiev.

Instead he awoke back in London after being found by a Ukranian farmer the next morning. He was informed of his lycanthropy and, after a two week recovery, discharged from St. Mungo's. When Lowell stepped out of the hospital doors, he was surprised to see how much Wizarding London had changed -- and how much it hadn't. Despite all the war recoveries that had happened, so much in so little time, Lowell was suddenly being treated like a second class citizen, all because of his lycanthropy. He was turned from restaurants, denied jobs, even asked to leave his apartment complex all because of it. Lowell Bristow, accustomed to being a fairly well to do member of society, was now a second class citizen.

This was what prompted his first forays into politics. He began in a Werewolf Rights lobbyist group, eventually gaining followers and supporters who believed not only in Lowell's promise of better werewolf rights, but also in his other platforms, things he saw working in other European nations -- an emphasis on wizarding education and better protection for the wizarding world from muggles. His ideas and plans even brought him attention and support from members of the Wizengamot, an honor Lowell never thought he would see.

With Kingsley retiring, Lowell immediately saw a chance for change. While he as nothing but respect for the accomplished career of Pius Thicknesse, Lowell feels that the real issues of this election (equality for magical creatures, and better protection from muggle interference) are ones that his foreign policy experience are better suited to handle. He just wants the chance.

Septimius Prince-Bell
Lobby Receptionist - Atrium
Auror (Released from active duty)

Full Name: Septimius Prince-Bell
Nickname(s): Sept, Timmy, Ed, Eddie, Bell,
and for one person's amusement "Your Highness"
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Date of Birth, Age: November 12, 1972, age 37

Played By: potions_junkie
Actor Image: Michael Weatherly

Curiosity, stubbornness, and intelligence are the three dominating traits of Septimius Edgar Prince-Bell and he was right at home in Ravenclaw with these traits. There was nothing beneath Sept's notice and curiosity to study while at Hogwarts and he was fixture in the Library, usually hidden behind a mountain of books. His academic pursuits suffered from his own personal projects that he felt were more important, so instead of graduating as the top student, everyone thought he would be, he was fourth. Not that he cared since he was more concerned by his personal project of proving Runes and Astronomy held the answers to all things magical. His laid back attitude and lack of a competitive streak put him at odds with many of the males in Ravenclaw who felt threatened, the girls, however, seemed to find him refreshing to be around. What also seemed to confuse many was the air of acceptance and friendly manner Sept had that was more suitable to a Hufflepuff. But because he was so socialble he was considered by many to be the most friendly individual in all of Hogwarts during his year.

Although well into adulthood Sept still maintains his curious and stubborn nature but his need to discover has been tempered by some tragic personal experiences. He is still friendly and open, as his job demands he be that way, but Sept seems to have an air of reserve around him and many a schoolmate has commented that the Sept now is not the young lad he used to be.

Emily Prince was the youngest daughter of The Prince family, a family steeped in tradition of Pureblood superiority. When her older sister disappeared and married a Muggle all hell broke loose in the Prince home. Emily decided that being a Prince wasn't all it was cut out to be and took a page from her sister's book and disappeared. Finding herself in America, Emily realized she had no skills to assimilate herself into being a muggle, enter Edgar Bell, a muggle-born wizard who kept his feet in both worlds. He helped Emily build a life for herself and as he helped Emily fell in love and Edgar returned the sentiments. They were married and soon were joined by three children, the youngest they named Septimius Edgar. Before their oldest son, Tiberius, turned 10 the Prince-Bell family moved to Scotland so that all the children could attend Hogwarts.

As a boy Sept was precocious and underfoot. He seemed to be into everything and needing to learn everything. Since the Prince-Bell home was a regular muggle based home, Sept would take apart every bit of machinery to find out how it worked and put it back together, sometimes the machines worked better after his meddling, other times they just blew up. In his Muggle Primary school he got top grades in everything but always seemed to be suspended or in detention for taking apart or blowing things up. When his older siblings went off to learn magic, Sept, yearned for that chance since magic use was strictly prohibited in his home. During the holidays when Tiberius would return home Sept and his older sister Eve would sneak into Ti's room and read through his books. Eve soon got bored of them until she too went off to school, but Sept, Sept couldn't get enough and continued to read and re-read the books. By the time he too boarded the Hogwarts Express he was knowledgeable in everything up to fourth year. This allowed him to pursue the library at Hogwarts more freely and soon Sept fell in love with Runes and the night sky.

Being skinny and gangly at Hogwarts left Sept out of the social dating circle. Girls loved him, they said so, but he was just the "friend" type. This didn't bother him too much since he didn't have enough time to pursue women, he was too busy studying Runes and Astronomy. Since he devoted so much time to these aspects as soon as he graduated from Hogwarts he took the muggle equivalency tests and went to Oxford to study in their Linguistics program wanting to learn what the muggles had to say about ancient texts and languages. He learned all the languages he could both dead and alive and continued to study Astronomy as a hobby. With all that education under his belt he was approached by The Department of Mysteries to help them with his extensive knowledge of languages. Not only was he now successful but the gangly boy was gone and in his place was an eye appealing man. It was just too bad that the women he encountered never saw him as more than a friend. Aside from not having much of a social life, Sept's professional life was skyrocketing. As an Unspeakable he was cracking things no one had been able to in centuries. All was well until Halloween 19993; when the wizarding world celebrated, Sept's life changed forever. What he had been studying still remains a mystery that no one is able to solve or those that know are unwilling to divulge. All anyone knows is that morning he was alive and well and that by the first day of November he was in a coma and his wand hand, his left, destroyed leaving the portion from his elbow up. After recovering from his coma and having his arm replaced by a magical replacement, Sept asked to be released from his job but the Ministry was not willing to let one of their top individuals in the Department of Mysteries go, as a result both agreed that Sept would be a Lobby Receptionist available for consulting. He has been a solid fixture in the Ministry Lobby, smiling and greeting people, except for those few occasions when he called in sick, those days ended up being the most interesting days in Ministry and Sept was never there to witness the occasions that made them so memorable in the minds of Ministry Employees, how and why he called in sick on those particular days confuses even himself.

Eamon Spurrier
Unspeakable
Department of Mysteries

Full Name: Eamon Spurrier
Nickname(s): Spur
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Date of Birth, Age: July 29, 1966, age 43

Played By: Bewitch the Mind
Actor Image: Christopher Meloni

Some people are born with the inherent propensity to shrink back into the crowd. They don't enjoy taking charge or barking orders. Eamon Spurrier is most certainly not one of these individuals. It's often been said that human beings are not in fact all that different from other animals, and Eamon is living proof of that. He is always the alpha male in his pack of wolves, and he never takes kindly to operating underneath someone else. Eamon is obstinate and judgmental, and he has no reservations in forming an opinion about an individual after only a few minutes' worth of interaction. He does not take "no" for an answer, and once his mind is made up, you may have better luck willing a change in the season than willing a change in his attitude.

That said, Eamon is not necessarily an unpleasant person. In school he was terribly popular, though it may be argued that bullies are rarely unpopular. He does possess a fierce sense of humor, one that created the crow's feet lines around the corners of his eyes. He's not very bookish but he is quite powerful, both physically and magically, and this creates in him a sought-after ally and a feared foe. The two main issues people have with Eamon are his temper and his inability to follow orders. He's also something of a rogue, possessing a sort of swaggering charisma that make him both intimidating and appealing. Even though Eamon is married, he's involved in numerous affairs with both men and women, and he's developed a reputation around the Ministry as a flirt and a scoundrel.

It would be overestimating to call the Spurrier clan of Boston the American royalty of wizarding families, but it would also not be entirely untrue. The Spurrier bloodline was wrought with scandal and intrigue, but for the most part it was respected and envied for its prestige. Arriving into such a controversial environment was bound to have an effect on the middle child of Liam and Kate Spurrier. Already parents to a haughty daughter named Lindsay, the couple was deeply involved in their son's life financially but not so much emotionally. Their lack of parenting spawned a daughter who was unhealthily obsessed with her appearance and two sons with questionable moral codes.

Seeing as how the Spurriers were so well off, the children were all sent to the world's most prestigious wizarding school despite an ocean's distance between them. Hogwarts accepted each child when he (or she) was of age, but then the shock came when each Spurrier was sorted into a different House: Lindsay to Hufflepuff, Timothy to Ravenclaw, and Eamon to Slytherin. It was in Slytherin that Eamon found his niche, obtaining a "posse" within his first year and a reputation by thirteen. He was certainly not renowned for his academic achievements—with the exception of Transfiguration, a class at which he excelled rather spectacularly—but his Quidditch skills helped shoot him into school-wide fame as Slytherin's most talented Beater. That coupled with his strong-jawed, blue-eyed good looks secured his ability to get laid merely by snapping his fingers at an intended target. These intended targets included both genders, though during school his sexual interludes with male classmates were mostly kept secret. Popularity was at this point one of the only things he had going for him, and he was cautious about his reputation.

Eamon's transition from graduation into the work force was relatively smooth, as expected of a Spurrier. His parents' connections made it quite simple to obtain a job in the Ministry despite their residence in the States. Even working his way up the ladder wasn't too big of a challenge, especially when his personality worked to his advantage and his alpha male tendencies caught the attention of higher level Ministry officials. Soon he found himself working under some of the top names in London, all before the ripe old age of thirty-three. Under most circumstances an academically mediocre wizard would be intimidated by these working conditions; Eamon, however, was not most wizards. Having grown up with the expectation of doing the intimidating as opposed to being intimidated, he took the secretive (and oftentimes unscrupulous) work in strides. He wasn't afraid to continue barking orders as he had in his earlier work, though here it is a great deal less tolerated than it had been previously. After all, it's been a decade and he hasn't been fired. In that time he picked up a wife, a bigger home, and involvement in the political spheres, but none of this has affected his hounding of weaker people. Nor his roaming eye.

In 2007 she was contacted by the Ministry, requesting if she could fill a position as an Unspeakable in the Department of Mysteries. She accepted the position and now works for the ministry while also occasionally part timing at St. Mungo's.

Olivia “Livvie” Bishop is an up and comer reporter, who is trying to make a name for herself following in the footsteps of a Miss Rita Skeeter. She has a sharp wit and even sharper good looks that let her worm her way out of sticky situations. She can be the bell of the ball or she can get down and dirty for a story. Unlike Rita Skeeter who elaborates on ‘some’ of her stories, Livvie is ruthless in her determination to find out the truth, to the point where she does not need to elaborate to get the dirt. Livie grew up in the bustling town of London. She is used to pushes her own weight around to get all the facts for a good story.

On a personal level Livvie grew up with two very low key muggle parents. They knew what their daughter was and was happy to love her and give her support. However, they were too tame for the wild Livvie. Livvie's best moments were when she was writing for the Hogwarts Chronicle. She currently has one younger brother who is attending Hogwarts. Livvie never made to many friends while at Hogwarts. Her main focus was her story and how she could better it. She did have one steady boyfriend who after they graduated from Hogwarts, was never part of her life again. Livvie never amounted to anything when it came to the sport of Quidditch. She was best at paper and quill. Always jotting down her daily life and the lives of others around her. Livvie was never the best at practicing spells; her powers lie in her reasoning and her ability to sense a story in the making. Livvie is also not at all adverse to using her good looks as a way to get a better story. She is currently single but is always open to a fun and short romance. She was always very book smart with an almost sixth sense to finding the truth behind everyone's lies.

The best reporter knows to look deeper than what can be seen by the naked eye. One much dig deeper and go where no muggle can go. This is what Livvie does. She was the one who cracked the case on the cat snatcher. Someone at Hogwarts was stealing all the pet cats. Livvie was the one who had a strange feeling that the new student had a certain Umbridge quality about her. So she used her quick thinking and snuck a little veritaserum into the new kids tea. From there it was extremely easy to deduce who was the cat snatcher. The real question was why the new girls roommate didn’t know something strange was happening.

Olivia Bishop is currently covering the election of the next minister of magic.

Nickname(s): Soph, Sophie
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Date of Birth, Age: February 10th, 1973 age 36

Sophia is an scientist at heart. She excels at being a logical and curious being, and believes that to be a true human one must be above all practical. This aspect of her personality, however, leaves her as a rather distant person who can often not understand the point of view of others. For the most part, she remains happily detached from her society and race as a whole, finding the company of people to be inefficient and confusing. There are times though when she must admit to herself the feelings of deep loneliness. Sophia often thinks that she has been placed in the wrong world, with the wrong species. But for the most part, she pushes these feelings aside, regarding them to be wasting her attention which she could be spending on research and studies. Accepting the fact that she is stuck in her world for good, Sophia considers it to be her—along with what should be everyone else’s—responsibility to provide for the society as a whole. And though the work she conducts is often top secret, she is sure that any beneficial discoveries she might find will be put to use to improve civilization.

Sophia is a half-blood who was born in England and traveled around the world with her parents until she was of age to attend Hogwarts. Her mother was of a long-standing pureblood family—known as the Ivanov’s—that dominated a magical community in Russia, and though they were not violent toward muggles, they did assume themselves of a superior species as magical beings. Being raised with such ideas, Sophia’s mother Dasha assumed her parents’ belief to be true—that is, until she met Sophia’s father, Darren Handler, a muggle. Handler was a British scientist studying the chemical properties of a certain mineral that existed in the soil near the magical community Dasha was born and raised in. Eventually the two ran into each other, and though Dasha ignored Darren at first, she became more and more fascinated with the strange man and his bizarre studies.

Before a year had passed, the two had acquired an affection for each other. By the time affection turned to love, word of their relationship had gotten around to Dasha’s parents, resulting in her expulsion from the community. Luckily, Darren needed to leave for England anyway to return with his research results—naturally Dasha accompanied him, and though they never married or were legally bonded, they lived happily together and eventually had their one and only child—Sophia Yakov Handler.

Despite that Dasha and Darren had changed each other significantly, old ideas and old habits remained. Sophia grew up with her mother’s praise of pureblood families and the wizarding world’s accomplishments, and pushed Sophia to be her very best in magic. When Sophia was accepted into Hogwarts, she found her place in Ravenclaw, much to her parents’ approval as the House had a reputation for having some of the brightest students. At the same time, Sophia was exposed to many aspects of the muggle world, particularly muggle science, through her father. Darren often caused Sophia to reject her mother’s presumptions about the world and look at everything from a reasonable distance—especially emotionally. As a result, though Sophia generally felt proud of her parents and her heritage, she could not form a close relationship with either of them.

Now her relationship with her parents is one of the only ones she maintains, but it is essentially superficial. Taking after her father, Sophia delves into her work and research, rarely taking the time to consider the rest of the world around her--despite the fact that those around her have certainly taken notice of her and her brilliance, only to leave her be when they encounter what they assume to be a cold personality. It wasn't until very recently, with the excitement surrounding the upcoming election, that Sophia found herself—reluctantly—distracted from her work.
