ALL WAS WELL. Since the Second War, little a ripple has been made in the Wizarding World. Aurors have had the rare scare. Hogwarts is again safe. Families have grown and blossomed, and while the pain of loss from the Second War has been difficult, a better life has greeted the survivors. Life has returned to normal...except in the Ministry. No one ever really knows what goes on in the Department of Mysteries. There are all kinds of projects and studies that go on down there that no one ever finds out about. But sometimes a project just gets too big to contain.

THE UNSPEAKABLES wanted to find out where magic came from. They wanted to know genetically what made a witch and wizard different from a muggle. It started out innocently enough - a few tests here, a couple volunteers there. It was contained. Until they discovered chromosome 13.

CHROMOSOME 13. Research shows it contains the genetic makeup that enables magic abilities. Driven by frustration and anger, illegal experiments have taken place by some underground magicians. Squibs here and there have fallen to their experiments, fed the promise that they could eventually wield a wand. It was nothing alarming. Nothing dangerous.

MAY, 2022. The first Muggleborn is reported missing. Few turn their heads, as the missing Muggleborn was a bit of an old loon with little reputation. Aurors Harry Potter and Ron Weasley take the case seriously. She's found a week later, clueless as to where she'd been or who she'd seen: the perfect Obliviation.

JUNE, 2022. Three more elder Muggleborns are reported missing. Two are found days later with the same memory wipe. The other still remains missing. He is thirty-seven.

JULY, 2022. The first Metamorphmagus goes missing. A middle-aged man from Brussels who had been enjoying the English countryside, according to his concerned family. His picture and biography goes up on the Auror's wall. He remains missing.

AUGUST, 2022. The third Muggleborm who has gone missing in June is found dead in Manchester. There are no leads.


IT IS SEPTEMBER, 2022. Students are bustling on Platform Nine-and-Three-Quarters, both excited and sad to return to their lives at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There's hardly a whisper among the students: they loudly discuss their summers, and their nervousness about upcoming tests and classes. Parents of older students chit-chat politely, while first years are being comforted and assured they will enjoy the magestic castle. Some parents are a bit tense, although the children don't notice.

Hogwarts students remain in the walls of Hogwarts as the world falls down around them. Parents go missing. Sibilings return with no memories. And others never come back. All to return the magic power from Muggleborns to the rightful Squibs; to take from the selfish Metamorphmagi their genetic gifts to share with the world; to make sure that only pure-blooded witches and wizards have any kind of magical powers. They believe that only purity will sustain their world. When the experiments are done, everyone will be in their rightful place. And the only question left is...
