| Spamming
Spamming is a board clogger, space waster, and just not cool. Spam can be identified by being just a word or so ("that's cool."), a smile (":)"), or totally off topic. All posts are required to have at least 10 words--no less. The more you go around the boards, the better you will be at identifying spam. A double post is also spam. People tend to spam because they're either A) Not aware of what it is, or B) to up their post count. We'll make sure you understand what spam is in no time, but spamming for the sake of a high postcount is not acceptable.
Grammar At TP, you must use proper grammar. We will not tolerate "l33t", or "sTiKyCaPs", or "skool iz kewl!1!1!" talk. It's inappropriate, and unnecessary. Do your best to spell properly, (a small "misstake" won't land you in Azkaban, I promise) and please use proper punctuation (excessive exclaimation marks are not needed!!!!!!!!!). Finally, overusing smilies is not necessary. Double Posting Double posting is not allowed here. If you forgot to add something to your post just edit it. Don’t create a new post. However, there is an exception. If someone has a thread they'd like to add to (like new pictures of Dan Radcliffe, say), and they were the last person to post there, but no one has posted for a week, they may update it with a new picture. Otherwise, please use the "edit" button. Multiple Threads This happens when members don't look to see if there is a matching/related thread already in existence. To help with this, please use the "Search" tool you can located at the top of the forums. Multiple threads will be deleted or merged with the older thread. Signature Guidelines Signature Guidelines must be followed. Failure to obey them could result in a suspension from the board. Signatures are a fun way to be ourselves on message boards, however they can sometimes get out of hand. So to keep the boards friendly for everyone, we ask for members to follow these guidelines when creating a signature:
Linking to Other Message Boards This is an important one - please do not link to other Harry Potter boards. We have worked extremely hard to bring this board to you, and would be really quite offended if you linked a another HP board. This DOES include any free boards a user may have created. If we catch you linking in your profile, signature, or post the link, the link will be removed and you will be suspended for 1 week. If you come back and link again, you will be banned. No exceptions. Respecting Everyone Everyone loves to be respected. I do, you do, we all do! Therefore, here at GA, we require that you be respectful to everyone, whether it be a member, moderator, or administrator. Do not harass a member, moderator, or other administrator. If you have a problem with someone, talk to an admin--don't try to work it out yourself. If a moderator says it, it goes. No arguing. We don't make rules to tick you guys off. We don't delete posts because it's fun. We do this to protect everyone and to keep the boards clean and friendly. A lot of our rules are safety and cleanliness issues. Please, obey what a moderator tells you, so that we can make TPB fantastic! |
| About the Boards |
| History The founders of TPB began with a different board in the summer of 2003, Dumbledore's Army. The goal of DA was to create a warm, welcoming enviroment for all Harry Potter fans, regardless of age, location, or experience in the fandom. As DA grew, we discovered that while we would never be the largest message board in the fandom, we could certainly be the friendliest. DA went through many phases, but each time, we kept to our original mission: make the fandom accessible, safe, and friendly for everyone. After nearly four years of devotion to our members, the DA mods and administrators could no longer keep the boards going for fiscal reasons, and eventually, decided to close in summer of 2007. After almost two years without DA, the original founder, Bex, decided it was time to get back into boards. After much discussion with mods from the beginning, middle, and end of DA, it was decided DA would return under a new name--Toujours Pur-- and encompass not only Harry Potter, but a bit of Twilight, as well. After months of enjoyment with Toujours Pur, it was time to take it one step further, and Toujours Pur was born.Though years had passed between the beginning of the staff's journey on message boards, the goal hasn't: We wish to create a safe, fun, friendly enviroment for all HP fans, regardless of age, location, or experience. We hope we can fulfill this every day! The Mods Moderators are chosen based on their knowledge of the boards, Harry Potter, and creative input; not to mention their friendly attitudes with the members! To our benefit, the mods active on TPB now are very close friends, all of whom have worked on message boards in the past (if you were around for DA, you'll recognize nearly all of them!). The mods work hard every day to provide members with a positive experience, quick and friendly help, and lots of creative ideas. | The Bloodlines |
| When you register, you are immediately put into one of the families: Potters, Malfoys, or Weasleys. You should immediately start working on gaining Galleons to help become the most powerful wizard family! Galleons? In the world of wizard bloodlines, there are constant battles as to who has influence. We've chosen three powerful (although not all wealthy) families who battle for power. Now YOU'RE in control! By posting, being helpful, and referring new users, you can earn Galleons. These Galleons will be counted very so often, and a winning family will be announced! Winning allegiances will have won the chance to make a big decision about the boards. Possible choices include:
